Waipapa Marae Special General Meeting Hamilton
Waipapa Marae Trust will hold a Special General Meeting for Waipapa Marae beneficiaries to approve the revised charter for the marae. This includes the recent recommendations from Judge Clarke at the Māori Land Court in Hamilton. Acting Chair, Hone Edwards says the revised charter is a simple, shortened and less confusing version then the original charter.
“This version is focussed on providing important information for beneficiaries”, Hone said including the clarification of the:
- Beneficiary Class that changes from “Ngāti Hikairo and Waikato Tribes to “those who whakapapa to Ngāti Hikairo ki Kāwhia and affiiate to Waipapa Marae”.
- Requirement for a Beneficiary Roll
- Trustee Election process for 2020
- Marae Committee rules
The agenda will also seek the endorsement from beneficiaries to approve the voting rights of all eligible members of Ngāti Hikairo aged 18 years and older.
Once the revised charter is approved by marae beneficiaries at the SGM, the Waipapa Marae Trust will lodge an application with the Māori Land Court pursuant to Te Ture Whenua Māori Act 1993 seeking a recommendation to have the revised charter endorsed.
Having these issues approved by beneficiaries at the SGM will allow the 2020 AGM to proceed under the provisions of the revised charter.
The SGM will commence with registrations at 10am and starting at 11am Saturday 29 August, 2020
Further notices and a full agenda will follow.
