Yesterday the government shared more information about its three-phase response to Omicron. In a nutshell, case numbers are expected to grow so quickly that our health system and supply chains will be put under pressure. At different points in the outbreak, there will be different rules around testing and self-isolation, which should help to relieve that pressure.

The intent of the Three Waters reforms is laudable – to improve the way in which drinking water, stormwater and wastewater are managed, so that all New Zealanders have access to clean drinking water and clear rivers to swim in.

The proposed governance arrangements, however, are confusing. If these are intended to be Treaty-based, one would think that ancestral relationships with particular springs, aquifers, wetlands, streams, rivers and lakes would be at the heart of the matter.

Instead, the reforms focus on ‘three waters’ infrastructure - reservoirs, bores, sewage ponds, pipe networks and the like. By itself, the improved management of these ‘assets’ will not deliver healthy waterways across Aotearoa.

<dc:identifier>a29e7ee4-60aa-4ed1-a645-2d13cb3e66dd-132</dc:identifier>

Anonym

Ngāti Hikairo represents: Damian Porima plays his first gig with Katchafire

“I played my first gig with Katchafire at the weekend in Malborough to an audience of around 2,000 people. I was a little nervous because it was my first outing with the band. I had a month to learn all of their waiata, as well as two 5 hour practice sessions with the band and that, sealed it for me to know what I was doing.”

<dc:identifier>a29e7ee4-60aa-4ed1-a645-2d13cb3e66dd-131</dc:identifier>

Anonym

Unveiling of a memorial stone for Mere Gilmore

Ko te tangi a te rūrū e koukou nei
