Waikato Tainui raupatu marae receive $3million
Waikato Tainui has announced their grants and scholarships for 2021 including an annual distribution of $3m to all Waikato-Tainui Raupatu Marae based on the population of registered tribal members per marae and the baseline amount. The grants and scholarships include 3 education scholarships designed to assist tribal members completing undergraduate or postgraduate study in planning, engineering, surveying, environmental science, ecology and/or archaeology. The scholarships valued at $4,000 each are funded and selected by NZTA.
There’s also a scholarship for:
- tribal members enrolled in Honours, Post-Graduate or Master’s level NZQA accredited qualifications
- tribal members undertaking doctoral studies in a field that demonstrates relevance to W2050
as well as a grant for:
- tribal members enrolled in an NZQA accredited Qualification at Levels 2-7
Waikato Tainui is also offering kaumātua grants:
- 3 grants for travel
- 2 grants for medical expenses. The grants have been made available to registered tribal members 60 years and over to assist with age-related medical costs
