Taku Hiahia ablutions and infrastructure rebuild - final update for Christmas

from the Waipapa Trust

Here’s the overview of the work that has been completed to date

Our main photo above illustrates the external framing for the toilets has been completed and the roofing iron has been installed.

Our second pic below shows the internal framing has been completed, the timber nogs (blocking) has been installed for fittings and the electrical cables have been installed.

Other installations that have also been completed include:

  1. The Wastewater Treatment System has been installed.
  2. The drainage trench for services has been dug, services installed and covered in.
  3. The ceiling battens have been installed and the Gib Firewall has been lined.
  4. Pre-wire and pre-plumbing, drainage completed.

At the other end of Taku Hiahia, the Sprinkler Installation has commenced.

Here’s the overview of work to be carried out during the next 3-4 weeks

  1. The installation of hold-down bolts (for timber framing), strap bracing for walls is to be installed, and ceiling battens will be installed.
  2. Week beginning 20th Dec - ceiling linings to be installed, finishing of framing for skylight boxed out areas, Drainlayer to commence Water Tank repairs. Taahuhu panels to be removed (for the installation of the sprinkler pipe).
  3. Week beginning 10th Jan 2022 – preparation of Tank pad for sprinkler Tank, plastering of gib board ceilings to commence, painting of the exterior block.
  4. Week beginning 17th Jan 2022 – the installation of the punga cladding to commence.
  5. Week beginning 24th Jan 2022 – the installation of the resin flooring.
  6. Week beginning 31th Jan 2022 – the installation of the wall linings.

Completion date pulled forward

Although the infrastructure rebuild for Stage 1 won’t be finished before the poukai 2022, the completion date has been pulled forward by approximately 4 weeks to around the end of March 2022. Initially, the impact of the Level 3 & 4 Covid Lockdowns, pushed our completion date out by 6 weeks. However, our builders, ASAP have managed to have more staff on-site, enabling the completion date to be brought forward. In fact, our drain layer is going to be working through the break, so we’re very thankful for his work time during the festive season when most of us are on holiday.

Wishing our building team ASAP and our project manager/architect, Richard Mauriohooho all the best for the festive season.

Merry Christmas
