Latest testing and vaccination updates from Raukura Hauora at Maketū marae and Kāwhia Moana



First roll-out at Maketū marae, Kāwhia and around Kāwhia moana:

Raukura Hauora o Tainui and the Waikato DHB swabbed and tested 297 locals.  Raukura Hauora o Tainui confirmed there were no new cases of Covid-19.  210 of those tested were Māori, 3 Pacific and 80 others.  

In total, 136 vaccinations were administered across the 3 days around the Kāwhia harbour, 53 first dose and 83-second dose.  89 Māori vaccinated 45 Europeans and 2 Asians vaccinated.  Of the 89 Māori vaccinations, 29 were first dose and 60-second dose.  65% of all vaccinated over the three days were Māori.  The highest vaccination rate of Māori occurred in Tahāroa at 86%.

Second roll-out after Labour weekend:

Following the second recording of a positive COVID case in Kāwhia, Waikato Health agency, Raukura Hauora o Tainui set up their second testing station at Maketū marae, Kāwhia last week recording 44 swabs on Friday and another 18 on Saturday with 6 vaccinations.

The young woman who tested positive was in Kāwhia with her boyfriend for a year almost visiting her Dad who returned the couple to Pukekohe on the Tuesday after labour weekend.

We understand the father has since tested positive, however, the boyfriend's test results are unknown.  

Third roll-out in the last week of October:

Raukura Hauora o Tainui went back to Kāwhia, Tahāroa and Marokopa, Wednesday of last week to continue testing and vaccinating locals.

They recorded in total, 27 vaccinations and 15 tests including 16 vaccinations and 10 tests in Tahāroa and 11 vaccinations and 5 testings in Marokopa
