Kiingitanga Waananga Implementation Plan

A series of 5 Kiingitanga wānanga has been scheduled for the 68 Raupatu Marae at Hopuhopu Chambers over the next 5-weeks leading up to the Koroneihana.  A cluster of 32 Waipapa Marae beneficiaries will attend a wānanga on Saturday, 30 July 2022.  This Waipapa cluster will include 10 Kiingitanga Kaumātua from Waipapa, our 2 Te Whakakitenga Reps Niketi and Brendon and 20 beneficiary rangatahi aged 18 years and over.

Mamae Takerei is the wānanga manager.  She says it’s time all 68 Raupatu Marae are aligned with the tikanga of the Kiingitanga.  This includes the mana, the brand and the reputation of the Kiingitanga.

The Waipapa wānanga cluster includes the following marae: Pārāwera, Ōwairaka, Rākaunui, Maketū, Āruka, Ōkapū, Mōtakotako, Te Papatapu, Poihākena, Whaingaroa ki Te Whenua, Patupō and Ngātira.
