Another year is drawing to a close and we acknowledge the great work achieved but there is still unfinished business to complete. Covid-19 and an uncertain global geopolitical climate has changed the way we live our lives forever.

Therefore, it is timely to future proof our structures for the next 25 years and beyond as we strive to meet the expectations set out in Whakatupuranga 2050.

The legacy we leave must be enduring for those who come after us and so we must best prepare ourselves to face a raft of challenges ahead. This requires agility and responsiveness to also meet the opportunities that present in the future.

As the Sponsors of the Structure Review, we have placed the responsibility of leading this Kaupapa in the capable hands of Tania Martin and her Committee.

Ernst & Young will provide the rigour and advice to the Committee and ensure the Final Review Report is comprehensive and forward thinking.

We encourage all Whaanau, Marae, Hapuu, ngaa Kaihautuu me ngaa Kaimahi katoa of all our Governance and Management structures to fully participate in the review process.

Intergenerational transformation requires a bold and innovative approach to how we position ourselves heading forward and the Structure Review Committee plays a pivotal role in that process. Noo reira e te iwi whaanui, kia kaha raa.

Ki te kotahi te kaakaho ka whati, ki te kaapuia ka kore e whati. Kiingi Taawhiao.

  • Focus on past learnings that give rise to your vision for the future.

We encourage you to participate on behalf of your marae and hapuu in shaping the future for our generations hereafter. The run up to Christmas is a busy time for all whaanau especially for those who work. So to ensure that you can attend the waananga regardless of location, we are running midweek online engagement forums outside normal work hours.

Please make yourselves available to attend two waananga.

There will be two groups each consisting of 15 representatives. The group that attends the Governance 1A waananga is asked to attend the Governance 1B waananga. Similarly, the group of 15 that attends the Governance 2A waananga is asked to also attend the Governance 2B waananga.
