The Heritage & Identity Team has been working with Water Safety NZ to co-design a Kairuku Programme for Marae.
All Marae take pride in being able to provide their signature dishes at important events such as Poukai. A range of research acknowledges the importance of traditional kai in improving the nutritional health of kaumaatua. Access to traditional kai improves the mental and spiritual health of kaumaatua and has a unique ability to trigger positive memories which have also been acknowledged as a deterrent for neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, etc).
Grants include money for:
- Te Reo Māori
- Kaumātua Medical Health
Waipapa Marae Trust has a small window of opportunity to open the marae for a Special General Meeting for marae beneficiaries between the completion of Stage 2 of the Infrastructure Rebuild, the week before the SGM, and the start of Stage Three at Ngā Tai Whakarongorua on-site, mid-August.
The Waikato-Tainui Kaumaatua health insurance scheme is now an available option within your Kaumaatua Medical Grant.
This option provides you with an annual health insurance plan through Southern Cross, valued at $1,250, for just $500 – that’s only 50% of your total entitlement under this grant option!
It is with great pleasure that today we’re announcing the start of our committed journey to increase awareness and access to quality healthcare for our kaumaatua, through a new partnership with Southern Cross Health Insurance. Adding yet another tool in our kete to provide to our whaanau, for the betterment of their hauora and financial security – through the kaumaatua medical grant.
