Green wristbands for Waipapa poukai.
Green wristbands will be issued to everyone in the carpark attending the Waipapa poukai on Friday to show they have been temperature tested for COVID 19.
This applies to everyone entering the marae at Mōkai Kāinga whether front or back of marae as part of the COVID 19 restrictions. Please note if you're not wearing a wrist band you will be approached to leave the inner precinct of the marae and go back to the car park for a temperature test where Raukura Hauora staff will be waiting to help you.
Chair of Waipapa trustees Hone Edwards says this tono is to protect everyone on the marae who received a temperature test in the carpark before entering the marae during this current climate of COVID 19 uncertainty.
"Please look for our health workers in the carpark to temperature test you before you enter the marae. If we all make an effort to be tested, our poukai marae will be a safe haven for everyone. This is about ensuring we're all staying within the health and safety standard on the marae. It's not about discriminating those who forget or don't know. The wrist band will provide everyone with confidence that we're all making an effort to keep one and other safe from this ngāngara," Hone says.
"Please wash your hands after you've been to the wharepaku and note we will have hand sanitisers around the marae as well. Kissing and harirū are instinctive habits, please refrain from this practice on and off the marae when attending the poukai. These COVID 19 restrictions are being implemented to keep us all safe," Hone says.
