CLOSURE OF WAIPAPA MARAE – 22 December 2023 to 22 January 2024
On Tuesday of this week, a walk-through of the Marae was completed with Project Manager, Richard Mauriohooho, to conclude the building programme of the last three years in the ablution areas of Ngaa Taiwhakarongorua and Taku Hiahia.
At the outset, Richard advised, "As is usual following an extensive building programme, we can expect there will be a list of defects that are identified. For the build on Waipapa Marae these defects are minor but will require time to be fixed”
Already, following the walk -through on Tuesday, the Construction Company ASAP has remedied some of the defects.
The walk – through also identified work that was not included in the infrastructure build, but which the Trust will now consider since it will improve the way the Marae functions.
Trust Chair reiterates, "It therefore makes sense that the work is done over the holiday period whilst the Marae is closed, and well before the first booking of the year scheduled for Friday 26 January.
