We are pleased to share that the 2024 Tertiary Education Grant and Tumate Mahuta Memorial Grant applications (Semester A intake), are now open!

Please note that this application round is specifically for the 2024 academic year. If you received a grant in 2023, you are still eligible to apply for a 2024 grant.

The Waikato-Tainui Education Grants are designed to tautoko and promote academic success for tribal members as the future leaders of their whaanau, marae and iwi. The Tertiary Education Grant, for under-graduate study (NZQA Levels 1-7) and the Tumate Mahuta Memorial Grant, for post-graduate study (NZQA Levels 8 & 9).

Key dates:

Applications open – Tuesday 7th November 2023 Applications close – 5pm Friday 16th February 2024

Eligibility Criteria:

• Must be a registered Waikato-Tainui member.
• Must reside permanently in Aotearoa.
• The tertiary institution and course must be in New Zealand and NZQA accredited.
• Only one grant application is available per individual within a calendar year. Therefore, if you received a grant in 2023 and meet the criteria, you are eligible again for the 2024 study year.
